Wild Autumn Festival 2015 Dates Announced...

Jul 21, 2015

The Wild Autumn Festival 2015 will run from October 9th to October 26th. Its a great opportunity to welcome back over 30,000 Barnacle geese that make the trip every year from Svalbard in northern Norway to spend the winter on the Solway. The red deer at Galloway Forest Park will be in the rutting season with the stags bellowing and fighting off contenders to be the dominant male of the herd. For a peaceful excursion enjoy the autumn colours in one of the regions many woods.

For more information on what to do and where to go keep an eye on the events page for the latest listings.

And you can't get a greater testimony to the apeal of the region than the announcement by the BBC that Autumn Watch will be broadcast from Caerlaverock WWT this year.

Caerlaverock Wetland Centre Manager Brian Morrell said:

“We’re really excited to welcome Autumnwatch, especially at such a special time of year. We’ll have thousands of geese and swans arriving from the arctic to fill our wetland with noise and colour.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming all the presenters and production staff. We’re as curious as they are about what they might find – you’ll just have to tune in to find out!”

Autumnwatch will air on BBC2 the week commencing Monday 2nd November, as well as online and on the red button
