Fallow Deer in Dumfries and Galloway

Fallow DeerFallow deer are less commonly seen throughout the region but sightings are a real possibility particularly in the southern parts of the Galloway Forest Park.  Sightings have been recorded at Knockman wood and Kirroughtree more recently. The animlas are regularly see in the fields around St Anne's Bridge on the A701 between Dumfries and Beattock.  The woods around Gatehouse of Fleet also contain small groups.

When is best to see them:

Early morning and early evening throughout the year is a great time to look out for these very striking mammals.
